Cool Restaurants: find the best spots with A/C
Cabo during the summertime is one of the best times to visit. Who doesn’t want to be surrounded by cool ocean water and sandy beaches, far away from the concrete jungles? If you’re anything like me or my friends, though, we refuse to eat anywhere in Cabo that does not have air conditioning; it’s not nearly as appealing as finding some respite from the hot Mexican sun in a cool, relaxing restaurant. Surprisingly, many places in town don’t have air conditioning, but that’s why we’re here—to find the ones that do.
We have a running list of top places to dine, but we’re adding even more today. This is the ultimate list of places to dine in Cabo during the summer that offer air conditioning and delicious food and drink, of course.
In San José del Cabo
YOOKO
New to the neighborhood is Yooko Izakaya—a Japanese cuisine restaurant. Walk in and expect to be greeted with a laidback, city vibe where East Japan meets West Japan in every dish. Chefs use local products to create oriental flavors in dishes intended for sharing and enjoying over drinks and conversation.
LUMBRE
Don’t be dissuaded by the casual, relaxed atmosphere you’ll find at Lumbre. While the vibe is chill, there’s nothing but the utmost knowledge and precision when it comes to preparing and serving. The team works closely with local fisherman, ranchers, and farmers to provide only the freshest and best ingredients. My top pick: The shrimp tacos.
FIORENZA
When that Italian craving creeps up, Fiorenza is the way to go. Since opening over a decade ago, they’ve brought all the beloved Italian classics to Los Cabos. Fresh, homemade pasta, farm-the-garden caprese salad, and my personal favorite: Prosciutto e melone (melon prosciutto salad).
CHAMUYO
If you’re in search of an air-conditioned steakhouse, look no further than Chamuyo. Authentic Argentine Asado (steak) is from Snake River Farms, the owner of which just bought a house from our listings! Whet your whistle before the main course with traditional empanadas, Argentine chorizo, a specialty charcuterie display, and pizza, pastas, and salads. Chamuyo has it all. My top pick: The Filet.
TACOS ROSSY
No one does a seafood taco better than Tacos Rossy. Casual, cheap, and air conditioned? It doesn’t get much better than that. My top pick: Fried shrimp tacos.
NICK-SAN
Another gourmet Japanese spot is Nick-San. Chef Angel Carbajal has made a name for himself and his restaurant by creating memorable dishes that geniusly blend the best tastes of Japan and Mexico. It’s Cabo Japanese food, perfected. While you can get all the typical sushi dishes, it’s beyond the sushi where the real adventure lies.
SEARED BY ONE&ONLY
You can never go wrong with a Michelin-star Jean-Georges culinary experience, which makes SEARED my favorite restaurant. It’s not just fine dining—it’s truly an adventure, with every dish being more impressive than the last. The black truffle pizza could be the solution to all the world’s problems—I truly believe that.
SUVICHE BY ONE&ONLY
And while we’re on the subject of Jean-Georges, his Japanese fusion restaurant SUVICHE is also worth a reservation. It’s all the classics done exceptionally well plus mind-blowing extras
NAO
If it’s Mediterranean spices and flavors you’re craving, Nao’s Chef Alex Branch offers it all from fresh hummus and harissa, to grilled octopus, lamb shank, and baklava for dessert! Not to mention the decor, which feels as though you’ve stepped directly into a Grecian home in the heart of Athens.
In Cabo San Lucas
TORO LATIN KITCHEN & BAR
There’s not much that beats a night on the iconic outdoor terrace of Toro in Cabo. A cosmopolitan restaurant in the desert, Toro offers everything from ceviche and salads, to sushi and no shortage of Chef Specialities. My top pick: Miso-Chipotle Escolar. If you’re wanting more of a scene for dinner with delicious food, Toro is what you’re after.
MANTA
The Cape, a Thompson hotel, houses renowned Chef Enrique Olvera’s culinary experience: Manta. The dinner menu is thorough and vast, and the restaurant itself offers one of the best views of The Arch of Cabo San Lucas, making for a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
NOBU LOS CABOS
When in doubt, there’s always Nobu Los Cabos. It’s international for a reason—it’s the kind of high-quality sushi you can depend on and that always delivers. The menu is extensive and includes both traditional sushi and hot dishes, so set aside a block of time because you’re going to be here for a while.
