Barrio de Tango is a gem of a restaurant that is worth searching out. As so often happens with good places, Barrio de Tango is a little hidden (it’s behind San José del Cabo’s Antonio Mijares boulevard). The food is great: Dine on tender steaks, and salads (the vacío argentino and the house salad are my personal favorites), and inventive hors d’oeuvres and empanadas.
Try the basil ice cream for dessert; who would have thought of basil as an ice cream ingredient? It’s delicious. You also have to try the cleriquots! The restaurant itself has real charm—simple, rustic outdoor surroundings, reminiscent of the colorful barrios of Argentina.
